Are there any questions a lawyer shouldn’t ask his supervisor?

Q: Are there any questions a lawyer shouldn’t ask his supervisor?

A: Yes…the proverbial one question too many. While everyone should be able to seek the answers they need, it’s not a good idea to over-rely on your supervisor and risk wearing out your welcome. Once you’ve done your research, if you still need answers consider at times asking others in your workplace, other lawyers you don’t work with but whom you respect (without revealing confidential information, of course), and even a legal hotline, when available, such as the ABA’s ETHICSearch.

One more question you might want to ask your supervisor is if s/he sees you progressing as you should be in developing knowledge and confidence. The ensuing conversation will give you some important information…and hopefully a good gauge of how your supervisor feels at this point about the number, frequency, and level of the questions you have been asking.
