How can I stop complicating things and be more effective?

Q:  How can I stop complicating things and be more effective?

A:  Lawyers tend to over-think everything, and the resulting indecision can create delay, worry, risk, and conflict.  Yes, we need to analyze and use care, but we don’t need to fret our way through our career.

It could be simpler than you think. When you find yourself thinking or saying “no” or putting up undue barriers, convert to a “yes, and” mentality and see how much more you get done, how many feathers you unruffle, how much progress you make.  This is a tried and relied upon improvisation technique that you can implement, though it takes practice and discipline.
