Q. I find job postings that interest me, but also find I’m afraid to apply. What do you think could explain that?
A. Lawyers fear getting a job offer and not knowing if it’s really the best job for them. They see applying as a big commitment, when it’s just a small, first step. There is no large decision to make until you are actually faced with an offer. Even then, you can turn it down and proceed with your search, sharing the fact that you’ve had an offer, but decided to stay in the market, believing in your ability to find and get the job to which you are fully prepared to commit.
Take the first step, and one at a time thereafter. It’s the only way to get where you ultimately will want to go.
