I get so angry when opposing counsel are combative. What can I do?

Q: I get so angry when opposing counsel are combative.  What can I do?

A:  As humans our brains are wired for the fight or flight response. It may be partly that hardwiring rather than simply willfulness that drives some lawyers more readily into combat mode.

Try to shift your thinking to trigger empathy rather than anger. Our attitudes are a choice; I want you to make the choices that best serve you and your clients.
