If I leave the law, can I get back to it at a later point?

Q: If I leave the law, can I get back to it at a later point?
A: Yes. People have left to start a venture, to raise a child, to pursue another walk…or for a host of other reasons…and have returned to lawyering. I’m not saying it’s simple, but it is doable. Keep up during the time away through attending CLEs, reading law and the legal press, engaging in Bar Association activities, and making pro bono contributions. Maintain your network. Use social media to remain connected, up-to-date, and visible. In other words, be smart and strategic, involved and informed.
You can move away from the law yet stay tethered to the profession. If you return, pay it forward and help others come back too.
