Is it true that American lawyers evoke the worst public reaction of any profession?

Q: Is it true that American lawyers evoke the worst public reaction of any profession?

A: Lawyers and dentists are always on the lists of the most hated professions. In a February, 2013 article in The Economist entitled “America’s lawyers: Guilty as charged,” it was said that:

“ALL around the world, lawyers generate more hostility than the members of any other profession—with the possible exception of journalism. But there are few places where clients have more grounds for complaint than America.”

However, last month, the Ontario Bar Association launched a public relations campaign in Canada aimed at improving the image of lawyers. So, while it’s not our problem alone, it is up to each of us to raise the bar on professionalism and to comport ourselves in ways that prove that lawyers are people too…good people.
