Q: Now that it’s December, shouldn’t I wait until the new year to resume my job search and networking?
A: Absolutely not. The holiday season is a great time to network, as gatherings are in full swing and it’s the season of goodwill. Many lawyers are waiting until year-end to get their annual bonus, so it’s good to be top of mind for employers when those attorneys give their notice in January. Also, the new year brings a new budget in many workplaces and, with that, hiring. So don’t hang back in December.
Network now and all year long–every year you are in a job search, need to develop business, or want to expand your professional reach. In other words, always be networking.
