Q: Should I bother with subheadings on my resume?
A: Yes. Prospective employers should be able to understand your career in a glance.
If instead of using subheadings you have a long, undifferentiated list of pre-and post-licensure jobs, at a glance they may assume you’ve changed jobs often and they may more readily put your resume on the “No” pile.
If, in contrast, you worked in business before or while you went to law school, a subheading such as Legal and Business Experience will foreshadow your career duality and draw positive attention to your resume. Your law school clerkships can be placed (with that subheading) under your law school entry.
Try subheadings. They help.
