Q: Should I take interviews if I’m iffy about taking the job?
A: Don’t waste your time or an interviewer’s (unless you simply want one practice interview) if you know, for example, a new job’s salary wouldn’t be nearly enough or the job is in a locale you definitely wouldn’t relocate to.
However, don’t rule out interviews if you’re just unsure whether you’d want the job, if offered. Two reasons: your interest in a job may increase once you’ve had the interview or, even if not, you can still turn down an offer and let others know that you got the job but decided to stay in search until the really right one presents itself.
An interview is not a commitment to take the job. Take one step at a time in the job search process.
