Q: Why do I get writer’s block every time I sit down to write my resume?
A: I think this is a very common phenomenon. Although it details your professional life, your resume is so personal to you, it’s hard to commit it to the page. It can be as hard to decide what to leave off as it is to determine what to include and how to phrase your tasks and accomplishments. My advise is to commit to writing a first draft, and not until that draft is done should you go back to edit. Once you have a running start at a resume, it will be easier to make decisions about the next draft and, ultimately, the final document.
